Tapping into our island roots.
Island house was born out of a desire to create beautiful functional spaces relevant to our location. We draw inspiration from our islands heritage which enables us to seamlessly blend old and new in a way that reflects culture today while being cohesive, timeless and relevant.
“An Island House interior reflects that barefoot easy elegance of our islands with a modern edge”
Founder and director Melissa Jenkinson, was born and raised in the Cayman Islands. She trained in Interior Architecture in London and went on to work for some of the leading design firms in both New York and the UK. She prides herself on creating spaces with a unique identity. Always willing to think outside the box, she doesn’t believe in the concept of trends and prefers to draw on her love of vintage & antiques, modernist furniture, location and architectural heritage to deliver an eclectic richness to each interior.
Melissa works from her studio & showroom which is based in a 100 year old traditional Caymanian house in the center of George Town. With an ever changing collection of unusual vintage and antique pieces, art work, as well as contemporary furniture, wallpaper and an extensive fabric range, the showroom is always open to welcome visitors.
